New Gear Break-In Guidelines
All new gear sets require a break-in period to prevent overheating damage. Overloading or Overheating will break down the gear oil, which will cause the ring and pinion to fail.
- Avoid heavy accelerating during the break in process
- Keep the vehicle under 60 MPH for the first 100 miles
- Drive 15 to 20 miles, stop let differential cool before proceeding
- Drive at least 500 miles before towing. First towing should be less than 15 miles, then let cool before proceeding
- Change Gear Oil after the 500 mile break-in, this removes metal particles and phosphate coating from the gear set during the break-in period.
- Improper Break-in can be determined through Inspection and wil Void Warranty Claims
Gear Oil
Recommended Gear Oil is an 80W-90/85W-140, Non-Synthetic, GL5 grade or Higher, Name Brand Oil.
