Our Hurricane Racing Shocks 2.5" Triple Bypass are a serious upgrade to your Jeep. Why? These shocks provide you with reduced harshness by adding three external bypass tubes which allow free-flow around the piston. The Hurricane 2.5 Bypass Shocks feature two compression tube and one rebound tube for control in both directions and a smoother transition into the bump zone.

Unlike standard automotive shocks which are sealed and silent, bypass shocks use external pathways to manage fluid displacement.

• Hurricane Racing Shocks’ external bypass shocks use precision-engineered steel pistons in the bypass tube, offering improved damping control and longer-lasting durability for serious off-road use. This design is far superior to the Teflon pistons found in some other brands, which deliver lower performance and less durability.

  Why the Sound is a "Good Sign"

  The sound you are hearing is the mechanical confirmation that your suspension is actively adapting to the terrain. Here is why this sound supports the health of the shock:

  • Valve Seating: The "click" occurs when the check valve (a steel disc or ball) slams shut to prevent backflow. This ensures that damping force is being applied exactly where it was tuned to occur.

  • Fluid Routing: The noise confirms that hydraulic fluid is moving through the bypass tubes rather than being "choked" at the main piston. This is what allows for a plush ride over small bumps and bottom-out resistance on big hits.

  • System Integrity: A silent bypass shock often indicates a stuck check valve or internal bypass leakage, which would result in a significant loss of damping control and "wallowing" suspension.
