For a long time, you had to make a strict compromise when building a JL Axles : you either chose a *selectable locker* (like the traditional  E-Locker or Air Locker) which acts as a completely open differential when turned off, or you chose a *helical gear-driven Limited Slip Differential (LSD) which gives great continuous traction but can't fully lock 100% when a wheel is completely in the air.

How the Hybrid System Works ?

Instead of being a standard "open" differential when the magnet is disengaged, the carrier houses a *helical worm-gear limited-slip mechanism*.

 Switch OFF - It behaves exactly like a mechanical, Helical gear-driven LSD. It senses torque bias and smoothly transfers power to the wheel with more grip—all without clutches to wear out.

 Switch ON-A 12V current activates an electromagnet that physically pins the internal mechanism, turning the differential into a *100% solid spool*. Both axle shafts are locked at identical speeds, giving you true locker performance to pull over vertical ledges or deep washouts.
